In Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Bahaar Foundation is upskilling the existing cadre of Swachchata Sakhis to give health services to the urban and peri-urban locations of Arang and Abhanpur. Building on the success of the CHE program in rural areas, this initiative aims to demonstrate how community health entrepreneurs can also improve health access in urban communities.
In the tribal, rural Kunkuri block of Jashpur with a high anemia burden, Bahaar Foundation is saturating the entire block by deploying Sehat Saathis(CHEs). Beginning with population-wide anemia screening, the initiative focuses on demonstrating how a holistic, community-led approach can effectively address anemia—one of India’s most persistent and complex public health challenges.
In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Bahaar Foundation is partnering to upskill Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) trainers into Community Health Entrepreneurs. By expanding the range of services they can offer, the initiative strengthens the sustainability of existing VLEs while improving access to basic health services in their communities.
