Building Community Health Entrepreneurship across Urban and Peri-Urban Raipur
We are launching the Community Health Entrepreneur (CHE) program in Raipur district, Chhattisgarh, with the onboarding of 50 Sehat Saathis across urban and peri-urban communities. Of these, 30 Sehat Saathis are operating in urban locations, while 20 are working in peri-urban areas, extending last-mile health support to diverse and rapidly growing populations.
This phase of expansion marks an important evolution of the CHE model. While the program has demonstrated strong relevance in rural settings, the Raipur project is helping us assess how community-based health entrepreneurship functions in urban and peri-urban contexts — where mobility, service availability, and community dynamics differ significantly.
This cadre of Sehat Sakhis comprises existing Swachchata Sakhis who have now been upskilled to expand their role from sanitation champions to community health leaders. We are excited to work with the Raipur district administration on this meaningful project.
